The bubble for New York Jets fans burst on Monday when President-elect Donald Trump appointed billionaire investment banker Warren A. Stevens as U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom.

President Trump made the announcement in a post on Truth Social. The Senate must approve the selection.

“Mr. Warren has always dreamed of serving the United States full-time,” Trump said in a post. “Warren has always dreamed of serving the United States full-time and is honored to have the opportunity to do so as the top diplomat representing the United States to one of our most important and beloved allies. I'm excited to be able to do it.”

Jets fans had been hoping that President Trump would appoint team owner Woody Johnson as ambassador to the United Kingdom, as he did during his first term from 2017 to 2021. Woody's younger brother, Christopher Johnson, took over management of the team and made personnel decisions.

The Jets' best record was 7 wins and 9 losses in 2019. Since 2016, the team has won just seven games a season. They won 10 games in 2015, but haven't made the playoffs since 2010.

New York fans were fed up with the way the season was going and voiced their opinions once President Trump's decision was made. However, Johnson could be appointed to another role at any time.

The Jets are 3-9 this season after much hype and hope to make the playoffs with Aaron Rodgers back to full health. Instead, the team waived Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas midway through the season, and the acquisition of Davante Adams has yet to come to fruition.
