Jets have opportunity to slow down Dolphins and stop Tua Tagovailoa's success

Tua Tagovailoa’s Records and Upcoming Game Details

Tua Tagovailoa is heading to MetLife Stadium with some intriguing statistics.

Currently, he’s the starting quarterback for the Dolphins, boasting an impressive 6-0 record against the Jets and a perfect 7-0 overall. Interestingly, as noted by the Palm Beach Post, he has yet to win a game played in temperatures below 46 degrees, with a notable 0-7 record in such conditions.

Forecasts show that it’ll be around 40 degrees in East Rutherford on Sunday, which could pose a challenge for Tagovailoa and the Dolphins as they play in hostile territory.

“First and foremost, it’s going to be cold,” Tagovailoa acknowledged. “That’s definitely in the back of your mind. But aside from that, it’s really about your mentality. Whether it’s rain, snow, or even hot weather, we’re professionals; we’re getting paid to play football. So, we just need to go out there and do our job.”

The Dolphins are riding a three-game winning streak, a turnaround for the team since parting ways with General Manager Chris Grier on October 31. This shift may potentially secure Mike McDaniel’s future as head coach.

At 5-7, the Dolphins still have a slim chance to keep their playoff hopes alive, with Tagovailoa also eager to prove that he is the right long-term choice for the quarterback position.

“There are plenty of things that make him a standout player,” said Jets coach Aaron Glenn. “One of his key strengths is his ability to anticipate where his receivers are headed and deliver the ball. It can be tough for defensive backs to react in those moments. However, when a primary option isn’t available, he can take his chances with secondary targets, and he doesn’t falter too much in those situations.”

The Jets, meanwhile, are aiming for their fourth win of the season, marking a significant recovery after an initial 0-7 start, which included a defeat to Miami. They now find themselves at 3-9 and are starting to build some momentum.

“I’m not pleased with our overall record, but there are positive trends in certain aspects,” Glenn remarked.
