Jets’ John Simpson, Morgan Moses thrilled with unexpected reunion

When John Simpson was considering his options in free agency, the guard spoke with his Ravens teammate Morgan Moses, who played for the Jets in 2021.

“He called me about the Jets and I thought, ‘I’m going to love it,'” Moses said Wednesday.

Little did both men know that they would be playing together in green.

A few days after that conversation, the Ravens traded Moses to the Jets for a sixth-round pick and a fourth-round pick.

The Jets will have Simpson at left guard and Moses at right tackle as part of a rebuilt offensive line.

“Being able to acquire a player that we obviously know through the free agency portal and all that, obviously we’re looking forward to lacing up our cleats and putting on the helmet and shoulder pads with him again. ” said Moses.

Moses could not have told his friend about his business.

He didn’t see it coming.

In fact, the night before, he had been texting running back Derrick Henry, who had just agreed to a contract with the Ravens.

The next day, Moses learned he had been traded to the Jets.

“I had no idea what was going on at the time, but I’m really happy to be back in New York,” Moses said.

Moses, 33, has been durable throughout his career, but last season he suffered a torn pectoralis major muscle that required season-ending surgery.

“I actually tore my pectoral muscle in week four, but it was so much fun,” Moses said. “I’ve played on this machine all season and just learned how to get through it. I had surgery about six weeks ago. I’m feeling great, moving around, working out, getting back in shape. doing.”

Moses said he plans to be ready for training camp.

“I’m looking forward to getting two arms this year,” Moses said.

“We have a new coaching staff.” [for Las Vegas]And they have their players, they drafted their players. I felt like they really didn’t want me there,” Simpson said. “I kind of lost my confidence and stuff like that along the way. When the Ravens picked me up, it was like a whole new start. It gave me a fresh start to show myself and create a new identity. It gave me a great start. I feel like that’s what I needed. I needed a jump start and I think it paid off. It helped me a lot. It meant a lot to me. That was it.”
