Justin Fields Emphasizes Faith as He Joins the Jets
The New York Jets’ new quarterback, Justin Fields, is gearing up for his initial season with the team and has expressed that he’s leaning on his faith more than ever while adjusting to this new chapter in his career.
During a recent press conference, Fields shared insights on how his relationship with God has been instrumental in helping him focus amidst the noise that comes with being in the spotlight.
“I won’t seek approval from anyone else,” Fields remarked. “People will have their opinions, but that’s not personal for me. In the grand scheme of things, those opinions don’t really matter. Our lives won’t change based on what others think.” He emphasized that he believes God is in control of everything that happens in the world, which shapes his approach to his career and life.
Moreover, Fields reflected on the shift in his mindset over the past six months. Transitioning from a season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he joined the Jets as a free agent and previously played for the Chicago Bears. “Getting closer to God” has been a central part of this shift, he explained.
“I make it a point to read the Bible every day,” he noted. “There are profound lines and wisdom that I wasn’t aware of before. I’m learning so much that I can apply to my daily life.” He also expressed a bit of regret for not starting this practice sooner, encouraging others to explore similar paths.
