Jets Hope for Team Bonding During London Trip

HERTFORDSHIRE, England — Even though it won’t include a game at Big Ben, Jets coach Aaron Glenn is optimistic that this overseas trip can help unite his struggling team.

“I really like the idea of us getting away and having a chance to get into this hotel and get a feel for it together as a group and be honest about what we need to work on to improve where we are,” Glenn mentioned on Wednesday. “Our players are doing a really good job of that.”

The Jets arrived in London on Monday evening, making this visit earlier than their last three trips for games.

Quarterback Justin Fields noted that Glenn encouraged teammates to connect with those they might not usually spend time with on this trip.

“This is definitely an opportunity to get closer as a team, build camaraderie and get even closer,” Fields expressed.

They are staying at The Grove, a hotel located about an hour from central London. It features a weight room, conference spaces, and a practice range.

This getaway comes at a crucial time for the Jets, who currently stand at 0-5, providing them some distance from the fast-paced New York environment.

“What we’re not running away from is the fact that we’re where we are. We’re 0-5,” Glenn remarked candidly. “We have a lot of work to do. This is a really good week to focus on those things. There are many distractions out there. It’s the NFL; you can’t just escape it, and I’m not trying to either. We just have to work hard every day to climb out of this situation.”

Rookie tight end Mason Taylor shared that the players seem to be enjoying their time away from New York. “You could say it’s a little escape from the craziness that’s going on,” he said. “I think there’s definitely an advantage just being a part of this. You get to know the team a little bit better.”

However, sightseeing is not on the team’s agenda.

“Hey, we’re here to play a game,” Glenn emphasized. “That’s our focus. Of course, if we have some extra time, we might explore a bit. But right now, our complete concentration is on how to beat the Broncos, and that’s what we’re working on every day. I believe our players feel the same way.”
