Jets Safety Delivers Heavy Hit on Browns Rookie
During the first quarter of their game on Sunday, New York Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick made a notable statement by delivering a hard hit to Cleveland Browns rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion.
At MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, amidst rainy conditions, the Browns were attempting to score, trailing 7-0. Deshaun Watson spotted Concepcion in space and sent a pass his way, but Fitzpatrick had been watching from the secondary.
Just as Concepcion was about to secure the catch and make a play, Fitzpatrick came in with a brutal hit that left an impression. It seemed he led with his helmet, resulting in a penalty for targeting a defenseless receiver.
Concepcion was on the ground for a bit after the impact, looking a bit shaken before eventually getting to his feet and walking off the field, but he was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Despite the setback, the Browns did manage to secure a field goal on that drive.
Concepcion, who was taken in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, had previously showcased his skills at N.C. State and Texas A&M. He had already established himself as a reliable option within the Browns’ offensive setup, coming into the game with 17 receptions for 144 yards this season.
Fitzpatrick, known for his aggressive style as a defensive back, is having an impactful first year with the Jets, recording 16 tackles and an interception thus far.
The Browns were looking to maintain their momentum, heading into the game with a 3-1 record and leading the AFC North. Meanwhile, the Jets were aiming to break a three-game losing streak.
