Jets players were met with shocking news early Sunday as they discovered that their teammate, cornerback Kris Boyd, was in critical condition following a shooting in Manhattan.
Members of the team have taken to social media to express their support and send prayers to Boyd as he fights for his life.
“Everyone please send prayers to my brother and teammate Chris Boyd and his family!!!” Jermaine Johnson shared on X Sunday afternoon.
“Lord, please place your healing hand upon Chris and bring him to health and safety. Help us get through this safely. In your name, amen,” Johnson added.
Defensive tackle Harrison Phillips also took to social media, saying: “Father, we ask you for healing power for KB. You are the God of miracles. Lord, guide the doctors, nurses, surgeons who touch him, and give strength to his family. Chris is a fighter, and we’re all here for him.”
Boyd, who is 29 years old, was reportedly shot in the abdomen around 2 a.m. outside the Midtown Say Less restaurant, after a dispute escalated into violence, according to law enforcement sources.
While authorities have not officially identified Boyd as the victim, they confirmed he was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
The shooter, who has yet to be identified, allegedly fired two shots and fled the scene in a blue BMW X8 SUV.
The Jets, having a scheduled day off after a loss to the Patriots on Thursday, are set to face the Baltimore Ravens on November 23. As the situation unfolds, a team representative stated, “We are aware of Chris Boyd’s situation and have no further comment at this time.”
