Jewelry Store Employee Opens Fire on Alleged Robber

Just before 11 a.m. Saturday, a Chicago jewelry store employee with a concealed carry permit opened fire on a robbery suspect, hitting him with at least two bullets.

cw chicago report The 27-year-old robbery suspect allegedly walked towards a jewelry box near the store’s front door and swung it in an attempt to break the glass. As this was happening, “the man behind the counter pulled out a pistol, racked his slide, and fired the gun.” [alleged] The thief seems to be facing the door. ”

The robbery suspect then fell through the door, but quickly reached inside to pick up what he had dropped. He then ran to the “L” platform, sustaining gunshot wounds to his abdomen and buttocks.

Robbery suspect released Sunday, CBS News I got it. Charges are “pending.”

Christine, who lives near the scene of the jewelry incident, told CBS News, “I don’t think it’s really the right way to put all the blame on the business owners and the homes.”

He added: “Crime is just escalating and getting worse. A few weeks ago children were killed. Now, this armed robbery is unfortunate.”
