JFK grandson named Vogue political correspondent

Jack Schlossberg, grandson of former President Kennedy, has been hired as Vogue’s political correspondent ahead of the 2024 election, the magazine is reporting. It was announced on Wednesday.

Schlossberg, 31, the son of the U.S. ambassador to Australia, Caroline Kennedy, told the publication he believes the importance of the 2024 election is “highly significant” and worries about the impact if former President Trump is re-elected.

“It’s going to be a lot harder for young people to get that out of the way in the long run than just going to the polls one day a year,” he said in an interview published by Vogue magazine on Wednesday. “I’m really focused on creating a positive outcome where the good guys win. In reality it’s going to be a lot more complicated, but I’m still optimistic. Things don’t need to get any worse.”

According to Vogue, Schlossberg holds a J.D. and M.B.A. from Harvard University and will use his legal and business background to become a political reporter.

Schlossberg told Vogue that he considered his grandfather a “hero” and that his administration showed how progressivism could work in America.

“Growing up, I was involved in public service, which was a natural part of my family life. Through that work, I met many politicians and it made me more optimistic about our future,” he said.

Schlossberg made headlines last year when he publicly criticized his cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s, independent run for president and then endorsed President Biden for reelection.

“These are important issues, and if my cousin Bobby Kennedy Jr. cared about these issues, he would have supported Joe Biden,” Schlossberg said last year about his family, an environmental lawyer and vaccine skeptic.

Schlossberg has amassed a following on the social media platform TikTok. Where he posts his discussions About politics and comedy sketches.

When asked why his videos resonate with online audiences, he told Vogue: “I’m trying to say things that I think are important. I know that people are speaking their minds and have no other agenda.”

“I think very deeply and critically about what I want to say. This election is a really important year for me, and that’s why I’ve been trying to be more active,” he added. “This is a really important moment in history and it’s such an exciting time to be alive and to be able to vote. There’s a lot of negative energy about politics, so I want to bring that vibe out there, and I want to bring a little bit of positivity because this is really important.”
