Jack Schlossberg Talks Trump and Young Voters

Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, recently shared his thoughts in an interview about how President Donald Trump has changed the political landscape for young voters. He noted that Trump has “flipped the script,” helping to energize younger demographics, which is something he clearly sees as significant.

Schlossberg, who is campaigning for New York’s 12th Congressional District to succeed Congressman Jerry Nadler, expressed his strong disagreement with Trump. Yet, he didn’t shy away from giving the president credit for engaging people in politics, especially younger voters.

While speaking with Fortune, he said, “I don’t think young people are stupid.” He mentioned that Trump has made politics more accessible and recognized the impact of modern media on political discourse.

Reflecting on his own campaign journey, Schlossberg recounted a moment when he attempted to campaign for Biden but felt sidelined. “I really wanted to help, but I was told ‘no’ multiple times,” he recalled. He eventually chose to step back, thinking he needed to do things authentically before he was approached to create a promotional video.

Schlossberg also discussed the Republican party’s adoption of modern ideas, suggesting that they’ve embraced concepts like technology and cryptocurrencies, while Democrats have lagged. “They’ve been, well, anti-business and anti-modern,” he explained, which he feels has shifted under Trump’s influence.

Recently, Schlossberg made headlines for his unconventional social media posts, which include some controversial images. He stood his ground, asserting, “I think the line is crossed by the propaganda coming from the White House.” He defended his style, arguing that humor should play a role in political conversations, especially given the climate of the digital age.

As the younger generation marches forward into the political arena, Schlossberg’s candidacy serves as a reminder of the complexities in today’s political climate, where not everything is neatly defined or aligned.
