Concerns Over Biden’s Future from Former CNN Host
On “The Jim Acosta Show,” ex-CNN anchor Jim Acosta expressed worries to former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre that President Joe Biden might not make it through his term. He highlighted Biden’s physical and cognitive challenges during his presidency, though Jean-Pierre has consistently minimized these issues.
Acosta shared that Jean-Pierre seemed particularly anxious about the possibility of Biden passing away before the 2024 election. When asked for her thoughts, she didn’t directly address the concern. Acosta reflected on his time covering Donald Trump, describing him as a threat to the nation.
He further revealed his apprehensions that it would be too dangerous for Biden to run in 2024, mentioning worries about what could happen if Biden won the nomination or if something occurred right before the election. In response, Jean-Pierre deemed the topic hypothetical and shifted the conversation to other matters.
“He made the decision to run. These are just a lot of hypotheses,” she commented, emphasizing that the past can’t be changed. She stressed the importance of learning from previous mistakes and ensuring voter turnout in the upcoming elections, asserting that the Democratic Party needs to reflect on its past and protect democracy.
Jean-Pierre also mentioned that Biden is expected to elaborate on his decision to seek re-election in his forthcoming book. In May, Biden’s office revealed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Medical professionals indicated that he may have had the condition throughout his presidency.
In an interview with USA Today earlier this year, Biden himself expressed uncertainty about serving another term. “Who knows? So far so good,” he said, pondering what he would be like at 86.
