Jim Acosta Goes on a Rant of Profanity After CBS News States ‘We Love America’

Jim Acosta Criticizes CBS Evening News for “We Love America” Statement

On Thursday’s episode of “I’ve Had It,” former CNN host Jim Acosta took issue with the “CBS Evening News with Tony Dokoupil” for including “We love America” as one of its “Five Simple Principles.” He expressed his strong feelings on this via the show’s X account, stating, “I make no apologies for saying that.”

In a podcast episode from January 2nd, Acosta made his opinions clear, using variations of profanity multiple times in a short span. “Get out. We all love America. That’s why we’re doing this,” he stated. Acosta described his passion for his work, saying, “The reason I do what I do, and the reason I love doing what I do, is because I love this country.”

He shared his family background, noting that his father fled Cuba in 1962, just weeks before the Cuban Missile Crisis, while his mother’s family emigrated through Ellis Island. “One of my great-grandparents worked as a maid in the Dakota Building in Manhattan,” he added.

Continuing, he reflected on his journey to becoming a White House correspondent, saying, “And I’m not saying I’m special or anything, but it’s exceptional that something like that can happen in this world. When I saw CBS doing this, I thought, ‘What the hell is going on with these people?’ Because we all love this country. That’s out of the question.”

The “We love America” principle was listed as the fourth of five ideas shared on the show’s X account, alongside others such as “we work for you” and “we respect you.” CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil also mentioned in a video message on January 1 that he aims to prioritize “average Americans” in his interviews.

Dokoupil made his debut on the show on January 3rd with a report on the U.S. detainment of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, with his first official broadcast slated for January 5th. In a shift, Bari Weiss took over as editor-in-chief of CBS News in October, leading to significant changes, including staff turnover and alterations to political coverage.
