Wednesday Market Recap
This week, Jim Cramer’s CNBC Investment Club streamed a “Morning Meeting” where they covered key market movements.
1. The stock market showed mixed results as investors held their breath for an anticipated interest rate cut from the Federal Reserve, scheduled for 2 p.m. ET. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell will hold a press conference afterwards at 2:30 p.m. Jim is closely watching the S&P Short Range Oscillator, which is almost in the overbought zone. He mentioned Procter & Gamble and Texas Roadhouse as possibly appealing buying opportunities.
2. GE Vernova saw its stock price reach a record high of $725 per share, impressing investors with optimistic forecasts through fiscal 2028. Following this, Oppenheimer and RBC Capital upgraded the stock to a buy rating, while JP Morgan upped its price target to $1,000. Jim seemed to agree, stating that their price target for the stock in the club has risen from $700 to $800, maintaining a “buy” rating.
3. On the other hand, NVIDIA faced stock declines after a report suggested that a China-based AI startup, DeepSeek, was using smuggled Blackwell chips for a new model. NVIDIA denied this allegation. Currently, the U.S. chipmaker is still waiting to receive information on orders for its H200 chip, which was recently cleared for export to China. Jim mentioned, “this is all false talk,” expressing confidence that business in China could benefit NVIDIA. He advised that anyone not owning NVIDIA should consider buying.
4. Towards the end of the video, Jim quickly mentioned several stocks: AeroVironment, Chewy, JPMorgan, Southwest Airlines, and KeyCorp. (Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust holds positions in NVDA, PG, GEV, and TXRH.) For subscribers to CNBC Investing Club, Jim waits 45 minutes after sending a trade alert before acting on stocks in the charitable trust’s portfolio. If Jim discusses stocks on CNBC, there’s a 72-hour wait period before executing a trade based on his alerts.
