SAN FRANCISCO — Matthew Stafford’s Future Uncertain
Even Matthew Stafford’s podcast co-host, Jim Gray, is unsure about what the Rams quarterback plans to do this offseason. During their show, “Let’s Go!”, Gray mentioned to the California Post that there hasn’t been any clear indication regarding whether Stafford will continue his career in Los Angeles or choose to retire soon.
Gray admitted, “I have no insight,” explaining that Stafford hasn’t communicated with him about his intentions or mentioned anything during their episodes.
It’s clear that Stafford faces a tough decision. On one hand, he’s arguably having one of the best seasons of his career, boasting 46 touchdowns and 4,707 passing yards. On the other hand, he has also been grappling with painful injuries and is feeling mentally drained after a tough loss in the NFC Championship game.
Gray expressed hope that Stafford would opt for one more season in the game. “Hopefully he wins MVP and says, ‘You know what? Let’s give it one more ride,’” Gray remarked. But, he added, “I don’t know how he feels.”
On January 26, Stafford shared on “Let’s Go!” that he needed “some time” to figure out his future. Since then, no further updates have been provided, though Gray speculated that, if he had to guess, Stafford might decide to return. “It’s probably more of a hope than a guess. I hope he continues, because he’s very good,” Gray said.
