Jim Harbaugh denies committing violations after NCAA’s reported notice of allegations: ‘I do not apologize’

The University of Michigan is reportedly set to receive a formal Notice of Allegations (NOA) stemming from allegations of sign-stealing that took place last season.

Former head coach Jim Harbaugh, now with the Los Angeles Chargers, appears to be one of four people accused of committing the most serious Level 1 violations.

Harbaugh, who coached the Wolverines for nine seasons, has denied any wrongdoing.

“Never lie. Never cheat. Never steal. I was raised on that,” he said Monday. “I’ve raised my family on that. I’ve preached that to the teams I’ve coached. Nobody is perfect. When you stumble, apologize and correct. Today, I make no apologies. I was not involved in, did not know about and was not complicit in the allegations. So I’m going to get back to work and attack with a zeal never known before in mankind.”

The NCAA has accused Harbaugh of failing to cooperate with the school’s investigation by refusing to access his cell phone records.

Current head coach Sherone Moore may be facing a suspension for allegedly deleting text messages with the alleged mastermind of the plot, Connor Stallions, and Moore is suspected of committing a Level 2 violation, according to the reported NOA.

Moore, 38, was promoted from offensive coordinator to head coach when Harbaugh moved to Los Angeles after leading Michigan to its first national title since 1997.

Moore served as the acting head coach four times last season while Harbaugh was suspended, winning all four games, including the season finale against rival Ohio State.

Stallions resigned from his position in November, about a month after the investigation began. He was initially suspended with pay by the school. According to his LinkedIn profile, he was an off-field analyst for the football team. He attended more than 30 Big Ten games across 11 schools over the past three seasons and also allegedly disguised himself at the Central Michigan-Michigan State game.
