Junior Colson was coached by Jim Harbaugh all three years at the University of Michigan. Now, Colson will be entering familiar territory in the NFL.
After nine seasons in Ann Arbor, Harbaugh returned to the NFL and became the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.
Several Wolverines participated in this draft, including JJ McCarthy, the 10th overall pick and current quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. In fact, a Michigan player was selected in the third round three years in a row (Blake Collums with the Rams, Roman Wilson with the Steelers, and Zach Ginter with the Bengals).

But before those three were selected, Colson received a life-changing call when he was informed that linebacker would be the 69th pick in the draft. . . Works by Harbaugh’s Chargers.
Harbaugh was the one who called Colson to inform him of the reunion.
During the call, Harbaugh said, “Who’s doing better than us?” This became Michigan’s rallying cry on the way to the national championship.

Of course, Colson answered, “Nobody.”
Immediately after the nomination, Harbaugh shouted, “Long live the winner!”
Harbaugh came to Michigan State in 2015 after coaching the San Francisco 49ers for four years. He lost to his brother John and the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl 47.
Colson set a career-high with 44 solo tackles last season as part of an elite defense and was key to a 15-0 season. His 95 tackles led the team.

The Chargers’ defense ranked 28th in the NFL last year, so they should be able to get any help they can get.
