Jim Jordan says the ‘divide’ in America over this election is ‘normal versus crazy’ in swing-state stump

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Congressman Jim Jordan and Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose joined forces last week in the Buckeye State capital to boost Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno's rapidly improving prospects.

Mr. Jordan, who nearly grabbed the speaker's gavel last year, said a disturbing chasm was emerging in America between “normality” and “insanity.”

Party members packed the room to meet Congressman Jim Jordan in person.

“Do you believe the so-called experts you see on TV, or do you believe common sense?” Jordan asked about 75 disgruntled Ohioans. “The division in America today has become the normal and the abnormal. They're not all crazy, but the people who control the party definitely are.”

And that madness is harming the nation, he warned.

“It's strange that there are no borders,” he said. “It's crazy to let women participate in a men's sport. It's crazy to let a Chinese reconnaissance balloon fly across the country without shooting it down. I think any sane person here would shoot it down. Bernie would. I know it will.”

If Ohio voters send out longtime Sen. Sherrod Brown in November, Jordan will work with Moreno to immediately approve tax cuts, strengthen border security and implement “common sense” policies. He promised to bring him back to Washington.

With new leads and newfound confidence, Moreno is a candidate to watch.

Moreno was also furious at what he called incumbent Democrats' “gross lack of empathy” for the severe destruction caused by Hurricane Helen.

“Can you please show some empathy? Can you at least go out there and meet these people? Or is that asking too much?” Moreno said. “Our president is on the beach and their candidates are out fundraising with the elites. They have a lot to do against illegal immigrants. They spend thousands of dollars to settle here. We'll give it to you, but you're only going to give $750 to the people here whose homes have just been destroyed?”

Moreno and Secretary of State LaRose predicted that these “out of touch” Democrats would soon be replaced and that Ohio would have “nation-leading” election security measures.

LaRose said he was ready to “show the world” how elections should be conducted.

Mr. Moreno had been trailing Mr. Brown by a narrow margin since January. But Donald Trump's recent surge in popularity and Ohio's increased efforts to combat illegal immigration have allowed newcomers to leapfrog veterans.

“Thanks to that hard work, on election night we'll know who won and who controls the Senate in just 30 minutes or so after the polls close and the early voting numbers come in. “Yes,” Moreno said passionately. “And I want you all to change the channel. Change it to CNN, because you're going to see adults crying.”
