Jim Kelly’s Family Requests Prayers for Newborn Grandson
Bills icon Jim Kelly and his family are reaching out for prayers amidst troubling news regarding the health of his newborn grandson.
The infant, who was born last week, is facing “unexpected medical conditions,” as stated by the Bills last Thursday.
On Monday, Kelly, 65, shared the statement on Instagram, elaborating in a heartfelt caption. “We never thought we’d find ourselves in a situation filled with such heartbreak and suffering. Please pray for our daughter Erin, her husband Parker, and our little boy.”
This news arrives two decades after Kelly’s son, Hunter, tragically passed away at just eight years old in August 2005, due to Krabbe Leukodystrophy. Hunter’s illness and untimely death spurred Kelly and his wife Jill to delve into understanding Krabbe’s white blood cell nutrition and eventually establish the Hunter’s Hope foundation, aimed at raising awareness about the disease.
In his post, Kelly expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support and prayers during their most challenging moments. “We are incredibly thankful for your kindness and prayers; they remind us we’re not alone. We really need your prayers once more.”
The post also featured two biblical verses: Isaiah 46:4, which says, “I have made you, I will take you, I will keep you, and I will save you,” alongside Isaiah 43:2, which states, “When you pass through the deep seas, I will be with you.”
This appeal for prayers has ignited a wave of support from the Bills Mafia and the broader NFL community.
Hall of Famer Kelly spent all 11 seasons of his NFL career with Buffalo and is especially remembered for leading the team to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances from 1991 to 1994.
In closing his post, Kelly reiterated his appreciation, saying, “Thank you for standing with us, thank you for praying. It’s needed now more than ever.”
