Jim Miller triumphs over Jared Gordon at UFC 328 after his son recovers from cancer

MMA fighters prepare for UFC Freedom 250

Mixed martial artists Michael Chandler and Bo Nickal are gearing up for the UFC Freedom 250 fight, which will take place in front of the White House according to a recent episode of “My View with Lara Trump.”

Meanwhile, UFC veteran Jim Miller made a heartfelt return to the Octagon on Saturday, achieving a submission victory against Jared Gordon. This victory came after a challenging year for Miller, whose son Wyatt was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare soft tissue cancer. After sitting out for over a year to support his son through treatment, Wyatt has since recovered, and Miller expressed his gratitude and love after winning the match.

At UFC 328, held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, Miller shared, “My son has gone through some really difficult times over the last few months. He eventually beat cancer and is doing well today.” He continued, “We are cancer-free, and something I told him during his fight with cancer is that the Millers have been called many things, but fragile was never one of them.”

It was an emotional moment not just for him, but for fans as well. Winning in front of his hometown crowd added to the significance of this victory. Born in Sparta, Miller’s connection to the area runs deep, as he reflected on the scenic Mohawk Lake located about 60 miles from the venue.

The lightweight bout unfolded with Miller executing a guillotine choke on Gordon in the first round. After Miller attempted a kick, Gordon attempted a takedown, but it left him vulnerable. This mistake allowed Miller to swiftly seize the opportunity and secure the win.

With this victory, Miller has reached an impressive milestone, marking his 28th win in the UFC—more than any other fighter in the organization’s history.

On the other hand, Gordon has faced a challenging road, having lost to Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC Fight Night in February 2018, marking a streak of losses he hadn’t faced since December 2018 against Joaquin Silva.
