According to lead play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz, there is zero talk about Taylor Swift before CBS’ NFL broadcasts.
CBS will broadcast Super Bowl 2024 on Sunday from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. There, the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs will face the San Francisco 49ers. All eyes will be on this big game as fans eagerly await the arrival of Taylor Swift, who is dating her. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
During an appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show,” Nantz was asked how much planning goes into the game when Swift appears, and he said he had no idea how often Swift would appear on the air. He explained that “zero” had the right to speak.
“I react,” Nantz said. “I won’t tell Mike Arnold.” [lead director for NFL games on CBS], our director, the way he works. ”
Patrick then asked, “In your opinion, how much is too much and how much is not enough?” regarding the Super Bowl.
“Look, this is a matter of instinct,” Nantz said. “It has to be a feeling thing. You know, Kelce makes big plays, [Arnold’s] I’m going to talk to her for a second or two. But that doesn’t mean the shot needs an explanation. It just blends into the replay, another crowd shot.
“But I’ve never turned on my phone and said, ‘Show me a picture of Taylor right now!'”
Nantz went on to explain that he doesn’t understand why anyone would object to Swift being featured on TV during Chiefs games.
“There’s been a lot of fuss about how much we’re showing her, and I just don’t get it,” Nantz said. “In the AFC Championship game, Travis was a huge contributor to the win and they cut into her multiple times, but finally someone did this research. She was on the 3 hour and 15 minute broadcast. The time it took was 44 seconds.
“So he has great judgment, as does our director, and so does our producer.” [Jim Rickhoff.] they will understand it. I never said, “I’ll show her here, here, and here.” And I’m probably 99 percent sure because I played the game with her presents eight times. We don’t even mention the fact that “Taylor is here!” ”
Nantz also noted that Booth’s partner, Tony Romo, repeatedly referred to Swift as Kelce’s wife on air.
“Tony has jokingly said to me several times, ‘I’ve got a wife!'” I said, “What?” Not yet! Do you know something we don’t know? But it’s all part of the stupidity,” Nantz said.
Nantz, who has been the NFL play-by-play announcer on CBS since 2004, will call his seventh Super Bowl on Sunday, when the big game will be played in Las Vegas for the first time.
According to Page Six, Swift plans to attend, flying from Tokyo to Las Vegas immediately after her concert the night before.
Kelce, speaking to the media at the 2024 Super Bowl, questioned whether Swift would play Wednesday.
When asked if Swift gave him “a pep talk” before a big game, the All-Pro tight end replied, “No.” You’ll wonder if she can make it. ”
