Last year, Jimmy Butler homered Tom Thibodeau and the Knicks, and the Heat’s superstar wing wanted to do it again.
In a video that went viral on social media, Butler along with the Celtics fired shots at the Knicks, Josh Hart and Tom Thibodeau.
“If I was playing, Boston would be at home,” said Butler, who missed the Heat’s playoff opener loss to the Celtics because of a sprained right anterior cruciate ligament. “New York would probably be shit at home.”
The interviewer then brought up Josh Hart.
“Hmm, does that make sense to me?” Josh Hart? Come on, said Butler, a six-time All-Star who played for Thibodeau with the Bulls and Timberwolves. “I love Thibs, but I don’t want Thibs. Thibs, I love you, but I want to beat you once and for all. You want me. I don’t want you.” Yo. It’s like a one-sided relationship. You love me and I love you, but I don’t love you, you know what I’m saying. .”
Last year, Butler and the Heat defeated the Knicks in six games in the Eastern Conference semifinals to advance to the NBA Finals as the No. 8 seed.
Although he didn’t have the same luck this year, finishing in the same spot, Butler believes things would have been different had he been healthy.
Standout Heat guard Terry Rozier was also injured in the loss to the Celtics.
