Jimmy Butler wasted no time sharing some high expectations for his new team.
Butler arrived in California on Thursday and told fans that the NBA Finals were on the horizon a day after he was traded with the Warriors.
“I'm ready to win, I'm ready for work and I'm ready to hold a show for Y'all,” he said in a post shared on Warriors' X account. “Let's get it. The championship is coming soon.”
The 35-year-old Butler was traded from the Heat to Golden State on Wednesday in a trade between the five-team blockbusters that the Warriors sent Andrew Wiggins to Miami.
When traded with the Warrior, Butler rejected the 2025-26 player option and instead signed a two-year extension.
Butler's departure from Miami ultimately ended heat ownership in a season-long feud, and he was stopped three times from the team.
That's what the sixth All-Stars did. It was featured by the Warriors Prior to Thursday's home game with the Lakers, he spoke to reporters along with general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr.
“I'm so happy to be able to play basketball again for an organization like this,” Butler said. “I'm happy to have the opportunity to help us, win and do something special.”
“I will do my best to do what everyone wants, that is to win the championship,” Butler said.
Despite sitting outside the playoff contest now, Dunleavy considers the Warriors to be still a competitor.
“It's not an easy time to do this and have to make some of these moves,” says Dunleavy. “But we're in the winning business and we've got the guy sitting next to me, one of the best in the league, one of the elite two-way players.
Butler also joked about his suspension at a press conference, but claimed he had moved ever since.
“I don't have too many bad things to say about them,” Butler said. “I don't. They gave me the opportunity. I felt like I had put my work to the highest level. I was the organization, the people who run it, and I was. I have very respect for the organization for my ex-teammates. And I always wish them the best. …I have many people over there in that organization. I have love.”
Butler is set to return to Miami on March 25th later this season when the Warriors face the heat.
