Jimmy Kimmel Completely Misrepresents Facts to Address 'Plumber' Accusation

Poor Jimmy Kimmel. His mockery of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin’s past as a plumber came off so poorly that he resorted to outright misrepresentation.

Enjoy this little rodent:

[Trump’s] supporters are thrilled because I downplayed the fact that the new Homeland Security Secretary, Markwayne Mullin, had a plumbing background before becoming a senator. But now he’s in charge of Homeland Security. That’s not exactly a typical resume for someone tasked with keeping us safe from terrorism.

“Naturally, they decided to twist this into an insult aimed at plumbers, which it wasn’t,” he continued. “I wouldn’t choose a plumber to run the Department of Homeland Security, just like I wouldn’t call a five-star general to deal with a rat in the bathroom. We each have our own specialties.”

And then came the fabrications…

“Let me clarify,” Kimmel stated, sounding quite unsure. “I’m not upset that the Secretary of Homeland Security was once a plumber. I’m upset that he isn’t one anymore, alright?”

Kimmel seems eager for everyone to overlook his earlier comment, where he said, “Markwayne Mullin was a junior mixed martial artist and a plumber before going to the Senate. It’s true. We now have plumbers keeping us safe from terrorism. It worked in Super Mario, so why not Markwayne?”

At 49, Mullin has achieved a lot, from running multiple businesses to hosting a radio program, and getting elected to the U.S. House at 37, serving on numerous committees over the years.

He has also sat on various committees including Transportation and Infrastructure, Natural Resources, and Energy, among others.

In 2023, he secured a Senate position, joining committees such as Armed Services, Environment and Public Works, and Indian Affairs, still engaged in significant preparatory and administrative support.

What did Kimmel do, aware of all this, but still chose to ridicule Mullin?

Kimmel labeled him “The Plumber.”

He essentially reduced him to just a “plumber.”

Haha, you’re a plumber.

The punchline? Plumber.

The insult? Plumber.

Kimmel really misses the mark here.
