Jimmy Kimmel Invites Trump to Appear on His Show

Jimmy Kimmel expressed his desire to have President Donald Trump as a guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” after the show’s return from a hiatus. During a recent chat with Bloomberg reporter Lucas Shaw, Kimmel responded affirmatively when asked if he had invited either the Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr or Trump to his show.

Interestingly, Kimmel has previously shown no interest in inviting Carr, particularly after comments made regarding the shooting incident involving Charlie Kirk.

“I would love to have Trump on the show,” Kimmel said, adding playfully, “Okay, I’ll ask him.”

Support from Fellow Late-Night Hosts

Following Kimmel’s broadcast suspension over the controversy related to the Kirk incident, fellow late-night hosts came to his defense. They voiced concerns over the censorship from the Trump administration directed at hosts like Kimmel.

The White House has not offered any commentary on the situation.

Kimmel faced a brief suspension after remarks he made about the suspect involved in the Kirk shooting, criticizing the MAGA group for their attempts to distance themselves from the individual and capitalize on the event for political gain.

During his conversation with Shaw, Kimmel stated that his comments had been “deliberately and maliciously” misconstrued.

He shared insights about discussions he had with Disney executives, including CEO Bob Iger and co-chairman Dana Walden. It seems Kimmel felt the need to elaborate on the situation, noting that he could sometimes be too aggressive or reactive.

Insight into Kimmel’s Political Commentary

In the interview, Shaw and Kimmel explored the late-night host’s political engagement over the years. Kimmel pointed out that Trump has a significant media presence now, stating, “He’s on TV all day, every day. He gives us so much.” This contrasts with the past when political moments were often rare, like a video of George Bush tripping.

Kimmel mentioned having a day to reflect on the whole ordeal helped him gain perspective on the issue. His comments revealed a blend of admiration and critique, acknowledging the complexity of political commentary in today’s world.

Interestingly, Trump reacted to Kimmel’s suspension, expressing disbelief that ABC reinstated him. “I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back,” Trump remarked, noting that he thought Kimmel’s show had been canceled due to its declining audience.
