Jimmy Kimmel expresses his desire to have Trump on his late-night show: ‘I’ll invite him’

Jimmy Kimmel Welcomes Trump Back to His Show

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel expressed his excitement to have President Donald Trump back on his show after a brief break.

During a recent Bloomberg interview, Kimmel was asked whether he preferred to host Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr or President Trump. He replied, “Of course I’d love to have Trump on the show,” but showed no interest in having Carr as a guest.

“He’s on TV all day, every day. He gives us so much. That wasn’t the case before. Every once in a while, a video would come out of George Bush walking the wrong way on stage, and I’d watch it for a week. But now, you see him, you hear his voice. He’s introducing himself a lot, which is easier to understand and yet somehow harder at the same time,” Kimmel remarked.

Kimmel’s show faced a temporary suspension following his comments related to the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

“We hit some lows over the weekend as the MAGA gang is trying to paint this kid, the one who murdered Charlie Kirk, as anything but one of them, all while trying to score political points,” Kimmel noted at the time of the suspension.

In the latest interview, Kimmel claimed that his statements were “deliberately and maliciously” misrepresented. He mentioned positive discussions with Disney executives, including co-chairman Dana Walden, during his suspension.

“These are people I’ve known for a long time and, honestly, like very much. We all hoped this would work out for the best,” Kimmel added.

“First of all, I ruined Dana’s weekend. I just kept calling her all weekend. But if I hadn’t talked to Dana as much, I don’t think it would have turned out so positive. It helped me think things through and understand everyone’s perspective. I can be reactive at times, kinda aggressive, and obnoxious too,” he admitted.

In response to Kimmel’s remarks, Carr indicated that the FCC could take action against the late-night host, stating, “We can do this the easy way or the hard way.”

“These companies can find a way to change their behavior to take action against Kimmel. Otherwise, as you know, the FCC will have additional work to do down the road,” Carr charged, accusing Kimmel of spreading misinformation.

Following Carr’s comments, Nexstar and Sinclair Broadcast Group announced they would indefinitely suspend Kimmel’s late-night shows.

However, after a brief pause, ABC resumed airing Kimmel’s show on September 23rd. Sinclair followed suit three days later, citing the importance of community responsibility and First Amendment protections. Nexstar has yet to announce if they will continue the program.

Meanwhile, White House Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson reacted to Kimmel’s invitation for Trump, saying, “To respond to what Jimmy Kimmel says, you need to watch his show. There are more interesting things to do, like watch paint dry.”
