President Joe Biden’s modest withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race is being lampooned Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The octogenarian made the announcement on Sunday following calls from Democrats and people outside the party for him to resign, Breitbart News reported.
Vice President Kamala Harris was then quietly named by party leaders as his successor.
The opposition has long criticized Biden’s age, but party members also question whether he is fit to run for the country’s highest office.
Lamorne Morris will guest host Monday night’s show, while Kimmel will be taking a hiatus until September.
While talking about his recent Emmy nomination for the fifth season of Fargo , Morris joked, “I got more nominations this year than Joe Biden.”
“It’s weird, it’s weird, it’s probably awkward to say this, but of course this is big news,” he said. “Yesterday, President Biden decided to drop out of the race.”
“Well, he didn’t quit, he was just kind of drifting,” the actor continues, pretending to be an old man wandering aimlessly around the studio.
“I love Joey B,” Morris said, before mocking President Donald Trump’s reaction to the news.
Trump was formally endorsed as a candidate for the 2024 presidential election at the Republican National Convention on Thursday.
