Jimmy Kimmel shares that the Trump administration prompted him to obtain Italian citizenship

Jimmy Kimmel reveals Trump admin led me to get Italian citizenship

Jimmy Kimmel recently disclosed that he has obtained an Italian passport in preparation for a possible move out of the country due to President Donald Trump.

The host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” made this announcement on Sarah Silverman’s podcast on August 7th.

During the episode, Silverman noted that many of their acquaintances are thinking about securing citizenship elsewhere. Kimmel responded, “I have Italian citizenship.”

“It’s really bad. It’s incredible. I think it’s even worse than he wants,” Kimmel told Silverman, expressing his concerns about the current political situation.

He shared that his Italian citizenship comes from his mother’s side of the family, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

For years, talk show hosts and comedians have taken jabs at the president, even during his initial term.

Kimmel isn’t a favorite of Trump, who has referred to him as “silly” and implied that he would lose his late-night show after CBS cancels “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

Jimmy Kimmel Joins the Ranks of Comedians Considering Relocation

In July, Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi shared their decision to move to the UK in response to Trump’s re-election.

DeGeneres mentioned, “We came here the day before the election and woke up to a bunch of texts from friends along with crying emojis. We said, ‘We’re staying here.’

Just before Trump assumed office, comedian Rosie O’Donnell announced her move to Ireland with her daughter, sharing, “I moved here on January 15th and it’s really great. People are so loving and kind.” O’Donnell added that she has Irish grandparents and is in the process of obtaining Irish citizenship.

In response to her relocation, Trump criticized her, labeling her a “threat to humanity” and threatening to revoke her US citizenship.
