Jimmy Kimmel to Headline Democratic Fundraiser
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel is set to take the spotlight for Democrats this midterm season, headlining a fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) next month in Los Angeles.
The event will feature House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. This lineup was confirmed by sources close to the fundraiser.
Teddy Schleifer from MS NOW shared a screenshot of the invitation on social media, revealing that the minimum ticket price is $25,000. Notably, Shonda Rhimes, known for hit shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, will also be involved.
As mentioned in the invitation, Kimmel will be a “special guest” alongside the main speakers and honorary chairs, which include Pelosi and Jeffries. The host committee is also expected to include ambassadors, Democratic donors, and other political figures, with Rhimes being particularly highlighted for her work on popular series like Grey’s Anatomy and Bridgerton.
Various participation levels are available for guests, starting with a donation of $25,000 to the DCCC. Other options include the “Leader’s Circle” at $44,300, the “Event Chair” position for $100,000, and a designation as one of the “Jeffries 300” for a contribution of $310,100.
In related news, Kimmel faced a brief suspension from Disney in September after comments he made regarding the motive behind the assassination of conservative figure Charlie Kirk were perceived as controversial. This suspension also came after broadcasting affiliates Nexstar and Sinclair declined to air the show in their markets.
Nexstar criticized Kimmel’s remarks as “offensive and insensitive,” particularly during a significant national political discussion, indicating a desire for more respectful dialogue moving forward.
After a short break, Kimmel returned to the screen, clarifying that it was never his intention to trivialize the murder of the young man involved. He expressed that he posted a message on Instagram the day of the incident, extending his love and condolences to the victim’s family—a sentiment he still holds.
