Big congratulations are in order for Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy and his fiancée Katia Klopas!
The couple officially said their vows on April 11 at the luxurious Zadun Los Cabos Ritz-Carlton, as captured in a shared Instagram post.
The ceremony took place outside, right by the ocean, with white and pink roses framing the aisle and the altar.
One of the photos captured the moment the couple exchanged vows, alongside a sweet kiss with their son Mika.
They welcomed their first child into the world back in September of last year.
McCarthy and Klopas have been together since their high school days at Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park, Illinois. They got engaged in January 2024.
The proposal happened just a couple of weeks after McCarthy led the University of Michigan to a national championship in his last college season.
After being drafted 10th overall by the Vikings in 2024, McCarthy is currently enjoying his offseason. He will be competing with free agent Kyler Murray for the starting quarterback job.
Murray, the former Cardinals quarterback, inked a one-year deal on March 13, following McCarthy’s injury-hit 2025 season.
Vikings executive vice president Rob Brzezinski addressed reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine, indicating that quarterback performance is a key focus this offseason.
“We need a certain baseline of quarterback play to be effective,” Brzezinski mentioned in late February. “JJ has faced some bad luck with injuries and other challenges, but we’ll evaluate every option moving forward.” He added, “It’s about weighing options. Is it beneficial for both parties? Is it feasible economically? These details are important.”
Brzezinski took over personnel decisions following the Vikings’ decision to let go of general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah on January 30.
Additionally, Minnesota drafted Max Bredeson, a former Michigan fullback/tight end hybrid, in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, reuniting him with McCarthy after their championship win together.
“Man in the Fox Hole,” McCarthy wrote in a post following the draft of Bredeson, clearly excited about the connection.
