JJ Reddick lost his rental home this week in a devastating fire in Pacific Palisades.
Lakers head coach admitted when talking to reporters On Friday, the house the family was renting burned to the ground.
Like thousands of people in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, Reddick's family was forced to evacuate their home on Tuesday.
Reddick returned to Pacific Palisades on Wednesday, only to find his entire neighborhood destroyed by wildfires.
“I wasn't prepared for what I saw,” Reddick said. “It's complete devastation and destruction. I had to take a slightly different route to my house, but once I got through most of the village, it was all gone. I guess you can never prepare for it.
Reddick went on to detail the loss of his home, mentioning specific things he and his family lost in the fire.
“Everything that was important to us, having been together as a couple for about 20 years and raising a family for 10 years, was in that house,” he said. “There are things that can't be replaced, things that can never be replaced. It's weird, but like last year my son did an art project in St. Anne's in Brooklyn, and it was a charcoal pencil drawing of a lighthouse, and it was on a staircase. It was framed. You can never replace something like that. Memories, Chelsea and I were together for 18 years, and there were things in that house that are priceless. Anything is fine.”
Despite being clearly shaken, Ms Reddick later turned positive and mentioned the support she and her family had received during this time.

“The Palisades community has been very good to us,” Reddick said. “People make up the community, and we want to support that and rebuild it.
“I don't want people to pity me and my family. We'll be fine,” Reddick continued. “There are people who don't think they're okay because of political issues or insurance issues. We'll do everything we can to help people who are depressed because of this.”
Redick is one of many celebrities who lost their homes in the wildfires, including Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.
