Quentin Grimes might need a bit more practice on finding the basket than he did locating the guest house of his coach, JJ Redick, in the Hamptons.
During the Los Angeles Lakers’ media day on Monday, Redick recounted a rather amusing story about an unfortunate mix-up involving Grimes.
“Grimes came to Sag Harbor with a friend. I’m pretty meticulous, so I gave him the exact address of my guest house. It’s a specific address, you know? There’s no room for mistakes,” Redick explained.
“I also mentioned where he could find the key. I said, ‘When you enter, there’s a bedroom on the first floor, and another one upstairs. There’s a gym in the basement—feel free to use whatever you need.’ I thought I was being pretty clear,” he continued.
“After I finished golfing and headed to pick him up, I found my guest house empty. Grimes told me he had made it there, however,” he said.
“I ended up searching all over. I checked his Instagram and saw a photo of a pool from a different house in my neighborhood, captioned with something like #hamptonslife,” Redick recalled.
“So I messaged him, ‘Where the f are you, man?’ It turns out they had walked into one of my neighbors’ homes and were hanging out in their guest house,” he added, noting that his neighbors’ house must have been left unlocked.
Luckily, it seems that Redick’s neighbors weren’t around and apparently took the incident in stride when they found out. If they hadn’t, this entire episode might not be so amusing.
