AOC quipped, “Maybe if he channeled all this anger into swimming faster, he wouldn’t have finished 5th,” referring to Gaines.

Since this whole drama unfolded, various figures have weighed in, including far-left podcaster Jennifer Welch and Congresswoman Nancy Mace. Interestingly, JK Rowling has also entered the conversation.

Rowling reacted to a comment from an X user who accused Gaines of exploiting transgender athletes for her own gain. The commenter suggested that without trans athletes, Gaines wouldn’t have gained any attention. Rowling replied, noting that she does not support women’s rights to seek fame or money. “We fight because that’s the only thing you do if you’re a coward,” she added, supporting Gaines in her stance.

In what seems like a biting comeback, Gaines stated, “Moral beliefs are a foreign concept to some people.” This back-and-forth, while intense, highlights the ongoing debates surrounding gender identity and athletics.
