Joe Biden wins Montana Democratic presidential primary

President Biden has won Montana’s Democratic Primary election, according to Decision Desk HQ projections.

A win in Big Sky Country would give the presumptive Democratic nominee an additional 20 delegates heading into his party’s nominating convention this summer.

The presidential primary ballot only listed Biden and former President Trump, but voters had the opportunity to vote for “neither preference.” According to reports, some Montanans were pushing for this, as incumbent Biden has faced discontent within his party and protest votes in the primary over his handling of the Israeli-Hamas war.

Biden is not expected to win any Republican-leaning states in November. Trump Montana was occupied He won the state by 20 percentage points over Hillary Clinton in 2016 and 16 points over Biden in 2020. The latest 2024 projections from DDHQ/The Hill show the former president is likely to win the state again this fall.

Montana enters the final stages of its state primary election on Tuesday night, while the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam hold Democratic contests next week before shifting focus to party conventions in the summer.
