Joel Dahmen’s priceless 10-word reaction to Sony Open finish sure to keep him fed

This week's Sony Open in Hawaii is a perfect example of why every professional golf tournament must have a 36-hole cut.

Dozens of players fought hard to earn a paycheck to offset the cost of traveling to play in Hawaii over the weekend.

One of them was Joel Dahmen, who had a huge influence on Cutline.

Damen arrived at the par-5 9th hole, the 18th hole of the day, with a total of 2 under par for the tournament. The predicted cut line was 2 under, so he was tied for 65th at the time.

Players tied for the top 60 will qualify for the final two rounds, while players below that number will miss out on the 36-hole cut.

Therefore, if Dahmen birdies the gentle par-5, he will end the round at 3 under and move up the cut line in the process. The odds were in his favor as the ninth hole at Waialae was the easiest hole of the week. He played almost a full stroke under par.

Unfortunately, Dahmen hit his tee shot into a bunker on the left side of the fairway, then hit his second shot about 50 yards in front of the green. He then hit the ball about 5 feet, giving him a great chance for birdie.

But Dahmen missed the short putt, much to the delight of many others.

And in true Damen fashion, he perfect response He commented on Twitter about missing the putt on the 9th hole.

“Lots of dinners to come,” Damen posted.

Seventeen other players also finished 36 holes at 2 under, including 2021 Masters Champion Hideki Matsuyama and current PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Eric Cole, who led 36 holes at last year's PGA Championship. This includes Canadian Corey Connors, who shared the. .

Perhaps these three players will wine and dine at Damen to keep them in Honolulu for the weekend. At least you can thank the former Washington Husky for missing the short putt on the 9th.

However, Damen should receive free food as a sign of gratitude.

Thank you, Joel!
