Joel Embiid asks Sixers supporters to refrain from selling playoff tickets to Knicks fans.

Joel Embiid’s return to the Philadelphia 76ers invigorated the team, leading to a remarkable victory over the Boston Celtics in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. The former NBA MVP has been urging Sixers fans not to sell their tickets to rival New York Knicks supporters.

The Knicks, powered by All-Star guard Jalen Brunson, recently triumphed over the Atlanta Hawks with an astounding 51-point win in Game 6, advancing to the next stage. They’ll be keeping an eye on the upcoming Game 7 between the Sixers and Celtics, during which Embiid scored a whopping 34 points, helping his team come back from a 3-1 deficit.

After securing the Game 7 victory, Embiid made a plea to the fans. “This is what it looked like the last time we faced the Knicks,” he shared. He added that they need support and encouraged fans to be in their seats, saying, “Please don’t sell tickets. This is bigger than you. We need you.”

The ticket situation is a hot topic right now, especially considering last year’s playoffs when the Sixers’ owner sought to prevent Knicks fans from buying up tickets at their arena. During that time, Embiid also expressed frustration over the presence of Knicks fans.

“Philadelphia is known as a sports city,” he emphasized, pointing out that Knicks fans tend to travel well, particularly when the games are so close to home. As he acknowledged the potential financial reasons behind selling tickets, he encouraged fans to hold on to them. “If you need the money, I’ll help you,” he said, reiterating the importance of fan support.

As the series unfolds, the Sixers will see if their fans heed Embiid’s call. The Knicks, the Eastern Conference’s No. 3 seed, will host the first two games starting Monday at Madison Square Garden, with Game 3 set for Friday back at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. Despite missing the first three games of the previous series due to an appendectomy, Embiid made a significant impact, averaging 28 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in the last four games.
