Joey Lawrence is speaking out about his divorce after rumors circulated that he was having an affair.
“There's been a lot of speculation…” Lawrence began explaining on the “Brotherly Love” podcast.
“What was a private journey for my family has unfortunately become public. I feel so sad for my children.”

The “Blossom” star continued to open up emotionally about her marriage, saying her children come first.
“I am committed to protecting children at all costs, but what has been happening recently is completely unacceptable,” he said.
“The last four or five years have been a multifaceted journey, and in fact, contrary to appearances and public perception, that journey has involved a lot of pain…”
“There's a lot of things going on right now that aren't true.”
Lawrence's comments come just over a week after his wife, Samantha Cope, filed for divorce and accused him of having an affair.

He denied rumors that he had an affair with co-star Melina Alves while he was married to Cope, an allegation that Alves also denied on social media.
“First and foremost, I want to be clear that there was no sexual relationship between me and Joey during the filming of Socked in for Christmas,” she said on Instagram. Alves also wrote, produced and co-starred with Lawrence on the film.

After rumors of Lawrence's infidelity swirled amid his divorce, he admitted he was trying to move on from the allegations.
“Life goes on and we will get through this and my kids will be leading the way,” Lawrence continued on the podcast.
“I have been and will continue to be the best father I can be, and I will take care of my daughters until the day I die. I cherish them, I respect them, and I will do the best I can for them,” he said.
“I'm not perfect, but I do my best for them.”

Lawrence concluded her comments on the podcast by saying, “Please understand that this is a very private journey… We're just hoping for the best.”
“And of course, I want Dylan to give his best performance, just as I have always done. [daughters] Charlie and Libby… that's what matters most.”

According to People magazine, the day before the podcast was released, Cope released a statement to the media after Lawrence claimed on Instagram that there were “serious problems in her marriage” and that her daughters, Charleston and Liberty, were “not accepted” by the actress.

“As a mother who cares deeply for my daughter, I am deeply troubled by these false accusations,” Cope said in a statement. “I am confident that the truth is known to me, Joey and God.”
“I choose to focus on healing, caring for my daughter and coming to terms with the loss of my marriage and family,” she continued.
Lawrence has three children in total.
He has two daughters, Charleston and Liberty, with Chandee Lawrence. The couple were married for 15 years before deciding to divorce.

In January 2023, Lawrence and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Coop, welcomed their daughter, Dylan.
According to divorce papers, Cope is seeking full custody of their 1-year-old daughter, but allowing Lawrence visitation at her discretion. Cope also asked the court to block the ability of either spouse to award spousal support.
