Texas Woman Recovers After Hammer Assault While Jogging
A woman in Texas is on the mend following an assault in Bob Woodruff Park. Reports indicate that she had a history of being released by the Biden administration after previous arrests. Incidentally, she was attacked while jogging on November 13, shortly before 5 p.m.
When authorities responded to the scene, the victim recounted that an unidentified man struck her with a hammer on at least two occasions. Despite her attempts to fend off the attacker, he managed to escape, according to local reports.
She was taken to a hospital, where doctors treated her for injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.
Officials later identified 17-year-old Sergio Noe de Nova Duarte as the suspected assailant, citing evidence collected from the scene. Items such as the hammer and duct tape allegedly used in the attack were found, though some other details are still under wraps.
Duarte was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated kidnapping and assault. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that he had previously entered the United States on a B2 tourist visa in 2016 and was supposed to return to Mexico by the end of that year.
Duarte’s legal history shows a pattern of issues, including prior arrests for robbery and theft in 2024. After that arrest, he was released with instructions to appear before an immigration judge in 2026.
Raising concerns about public safety, Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin remarked, “This criminal illegal alien should not have been allowed to roam freely in our community, attacking this woman with a hammer.” She highlighted that under the previous administration, measures were taken to prevent such individuals from posing a threat to innocent citizens.
