John Goodman Attends “Digger” Premiere with Wife
John Goodman and his spouse, Anna Beth Goodman, recently enjoyed a rare night out at the Los Angeles premiere of “Digger.”
Goodman, known for his role in “Roseanne,” sported a classic black suit with a striped collared shirt and a gray tie. Anna Beth, on the other hand, chose a deep plum gown complemented by a black clutch.
The couple, who met at a Halloween party in New Orleans, have been married since 1989. They welcomed their daughter, Molly Evangeline, in 1990 and decided to raise her in New Orleans, intentionally staying out of the Hollywood limelight.
This outing was not just a date night; it provided John with a chance to showcase his substantial weight loss. He began his transformation in 2007 when he weighed nearly 400 pounds. After achieving sobriety, he revamped his lifestyle with the help of personal trainer Mackie Shilstone, embraced a Mediterranean diet, and concentrated on portion control.
In 2010, Goodman shared that he had shed over 100 pounds by eliminating sugar from his diet and committing to an exercise routine that included six days of workouts each week. He reflected on his past habits, mentioning how he used to eat all the time and struggled with his alcohol consumption.
He embraced boxing and daily walks to stay active. Goodman recounted his experience with boxing, stating, “I dug it. Yeah. Nobody’s going to get hurt, but it’s just hitting the mitts and trying to learn.” Although he hasn’t trusted himself to spar, he enjoys the workouts, saying they usually last about an hour, focusing on hitting the mitts and learning footwork.
Goodman attributes his weight loss success not only to exercise but also to his decision to quit drinking in 2007. After years of battling alcohol abuse, he realized he wanted to “live life better,” which spurred him to make significant changes.
