Golf fashion continues to be a big topic in the 2024 PGA Tour season, as players showed it off at the John Deere Classic.
That being said, fashion is a subjective topic and there are no right answers.
Not everyone likes to take a risk and dress traditionally, but there are ways to dress traditionally while still being on trend, and this week was a fusion of the two as young men dominated the best dressed lists.
Only one veteran player made the list, with younger players continuing to show just how versatile golf fashion can be.
Let’s break down the five best-dressed competitors at the John Deere Classic.
5. Ben Griffin

Ben Griffin makes the list because he wore different colored pants this week. The blue pants and white shirt were a trendy look for Sundays but not too flashy. Griffin’s Lord Avett logo matched the pants, which is the kind of attention to detail we like to see. He also wore pink pants earlier this week, which were great.
Pairing light-colored pants with a neutral top is a trend that anyone can pull off.

4. Michael Thorbjornsen

PGA Tour rookie Michael Thorbjornsen was a consistent choice all four days. He swapped out his polo shirt for gray pants after a computer glitch on Sunday, and his play on the greens earlier in the week was impressive. Adidas continues to dress its young players in these fun outfits, and they look great doing it.
Thorbjornsen looks cool without trying too hard, and I also like the different greys on the hats – they work well together and don’t clash.

3. Jordan Spieth

Jordan Spieth finally makes it onto our list of best-dressed green and black moments. He won the John Deere Classic in a green polo, but this outfit feels like a reinterpretation. The little patterns make it trendy yet different. Spieth’s outfit on Sunday was great, too. Even when he wore orange, it was a better choice than what the former Texas Longhorn has worn in recent weeks.
He’s the only PGA Tour veteran to make the best-dressed list, with a lot of younger players boasting about themselves, but I’ll give the edge to Spieth, whose outfit at the John Deere Classic was perhaps his best-looking look of the season.

Florida State freshman Luke Clanton brought some energy to Illinois. His pink, black and white polo shirt looked great, especially when paired with his black hat. Clanton also looked great in all-black on Sunday.
He may still be in college, but he knows how to dress for a 20-year-old.

1. Davis Thompson

Davis Thompson won his first PGA Tour victory, winning by four strokes. He was in top form on the golf course and in his own world. The former Georgia Bulldog was unfazed. His fashion this week was traditional, as Nike tends to favor, but there was still a moment that propelled him to the top.
The pants I wore for Saturday’s round were a blue-grey color. In some lighting they looked baby blue, but in others they looked grayish. The black looked great with these light pants, especially when the blue tones popped out. These pants aren’t normally paired with an all-black shirt, so it was a striking outfit. But it worked.
Thompson is one of the few Nike players who looks good in the confetti-print shirts. He wore a blue one on Sunday, and it suited his skin tone well.
It’s been a productive week for the 25-year-old, both on the course and in fashion.
