John Elway Grieves After Loss of Longtime Agent
NFL legend John Elway is mourning the death of his long-time agent, Jeff Sperbeck, who tragically passed away in a golf cart accident.
Sperbeck, 62, was involved in a fatal incident in April when he fell from a golf cart that Elway was driving.
Sources indicate that Elway has struggled to cope with the loss. “John hasn’t taken losses or accidents well. He’s been quite upset and has kept to himself,” a friend shared.
While Elway used to be quite social, he is reportedly not in good spirits these days.
“He’s really down,” the source commented. “He’s not his usual cheerful self.”
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office in California concluded their investigation, determining that no criminal actions were involved and that Sperbeck’s death was an accident.
“It’s a tragic accident,” said Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco. “There was nothing criminal here.”
The accident took place at the Madison Club, an exclusive golf course designed by Tom Fazio in La Quinta, California.
This upscale locality also hosts various celebrities, including Adele and Justin Bieber.
After the incident, Elway has reportedly become withdrawn, struggling with the sudden loss of his friend and business partner.
Elway, who has served as the general manager for the Denver Broncos, expressed his grief in a heartfelt statement following Sperbeck’s passing.
“There are no words to describe the deep sadness I feel over losing someone so significant in my life,” the 65-year-old stated in April.
He extended his condolences to Sperbeck’s wife, Kori, and their children, emphasizing the loyalty and love Sperbeck brought to his life and others.
Sperbeck became Elway’s agent in the 1990s, and they later partnered in the wine business, Winery 7Cellars.
Elway’s legal team did not provide an immediate response regarding the situation.
