John Goodman Shines at “Smurf” Premiere
John Goodman looked fantastic at the premiere of the new “Smurf” film on Sunday, showcasing a remarkable weight loss of 200 pounds. This appearance comes just ahead of the movie’s release on July 18.
The actor lent his voice to Papa Smurf in this animated comedy, sharing the screen with notable stars like Rihanna, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, and Xolo Maridueña.
It seems that Goodman and his former co-star, Roseanne Barr, haven’t communicated in quite a while—around seven or eight years according to reports.

Goodman achieved his weight loss through a combination of exercise and dietary changes, particularly incorporating boxing into his routine. He also enjoyed daily walks as part of his movement.
“I dug it. Yeah. No one’s going to get hurt, but it’s just smacking mitz and trying to learn,” he mentioned in a recent interview. He typically trains for about an hour to an hour and a half at a time, focusing on hitting the bag and working on footwork, finding it quite rewarding.

At 73, Goodman has shifted his approach to nutrition, which has significantly aided in his weight loss efforts. “I’ve always stopped eating,” he stated in an earlier interview.
He found a newfound energy in returning to exercise. “I’m old enough to sit still,” he observed. “And that gives me the energy to work, because the job is very exhausting.”
Painted in 2004, John Goodman admitted to losing weight before and returning to his old habits.
Goodman opened up about his struggles, mentioning that he once weighed close to 400 pounds. He shared that he found the motivation to become healthier by simply being tired of his reflection. “I was sick and tired of seeing myself,” he confessed.

Goodman’s career took off in the 1980s with his starring role in “Roseanne.” Beyond that, he has participated in several voice projects, including “Monsters Inc.,” “Cars,” and “Bee Movie.” His filmography also features significant performances in “The Flintstones,” “Argo,” “10 Cloverfield Lane,” and “The Big Lebowski.”
Currently, Goodman can be seen in “Connors” and “The Jewel of the Righteous.”
