John Harbaugh's true feelings about the Ravens split after 18 years

John Harbaugh Relieved After Ravens Move On

John Harbaugh feels “relieved” following the Ravens’ decision to part ways with him after nearly two decades as head coach.

This update came from ESPN on Tuesday amid a significant transition for the Baltimore team, which is now on the lookout for its fourth head coach ever.

According to Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley, a source close to Harbaugh mentioned that he is at ease with this decision. “He thinks it’s time for a reset, not just for the organization, but also for quarterback Lamar Jackson,” Hensley noted.

The Ravens officially announced Harbaugh’s firing on Tuesday after he had spent 18 seasons with the organization. This decision followed a tough 26-24 loss to the Steelers, a divisional rival, just days earlier.

Unfortunately, Baltimore ended the season with an 8-9 record, marking their absence from the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

“This was a really tough call, considering the incredible journey we’ve had over 18 years and the enormous respect I hold for John, not just as a coach but as a person of integrity,” Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said in a statement. He added that Harbaugh’s exemplary coaching career included bringing Super Bowl victories to Baltimore and serving as a vital pillar of humility and leadership in the community.

In a reflective farewell, Harbaugh spoke of “gratitude and appreciation.” He remarked, “I was hoping for a different sort of message on my last day here, but I understand that this day has arrived. While there’s disappointment, I feel an even greater sense of gratitude.” Over his tenure, he compiled a record of 180-113, including postseason play.

Now, Harbaugh has become a leading candidate during this year’s coaching cycle. Reports indicated that just an hour after his firing, seven teams reached out to discuss hiring him. Among those interested are the Giants, as well as the Browns, Falcons, Cardinals, Titans, and Raiders, all of which have coaching vacancies.

It’s still unclear which organizations have shown the most interest.
