Johnny Manziel Absent from ESPN’s “College GameDay”
Johnny Manziel, the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, was set to appear as a guest picker on ESPN’s “College GameDay” for the College Football Playoff clash featuring his former team, the Texas A&M Aggies, against the Miami Hurricanes. However, at the last minute, NBA champion Alex Caruso stepped in for Manziel.
In a recent Instagram Story, Manziel expressed his apologies, stating that his absence was due to reasons outside of his control, hinting that he might be dealing with an illness.
Interestingly, he was spotted the previous night at the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua fight in Miami, which raised eyebrows about whether that played a role in his missing the game.
ESPN’s Reece Davis brought up the situation during a podcast, hinting there might be more to the story. “When you go to a fight like that, you have to be very careful about where you eat breakfast the next morning,” he commented, suggesting that certain food choices can impact one’s health or punctuality. He also made a light-hearted remark about “bad breakfast” and encouraged listeners to pay attention to the subtleties in the situation.
Unfortunately for Manziel, he missed out on a tightly contested game in which Texas A&M led 6-0 until Miami’s Carson Beck orchestrated an impressive drive that concluded with a touchdown pass, shifting the momentum in favor of Miami.
Ultimately, Miami secured a victory with a score of 10-3 and is now set to face Ohio State in the upcoming quarterfinals.
