Inspectors from the federal government have initiated a recall of nearly 23,000 pounds of Johnsonville Cheddar Bratwurst that were distributed to 10 states due to reports of plastic being found in the product by consumers.

Johnsonville, located in Momans, Illinois, processed the meat items on February 5, 2025, as stated by the USDA Food Safety Inspection Services (FSIS).

The recall pertains to a 19-ounce sealed package that contains five links of Johnsonville Bacon Cheddar Bratwurst, identified with the package code “b9fod.” Each recalled item has the establishment number “Est. 1647” on its label.

Images of the labels from the affected products are available on the FSIS website.

The impacted Bratwurst was sent to grocery stores in Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

The agency discovered the contamination issue following reports of two complaints made to them regarding Johnsonville.

As of now, no injuries related to consumption of the recalled product have been reported; however, individuals who have concerns are urged to consult a healthcare professional.

The FSIS advises anyone possessing the recalled meat to dispose of it or return it to the retailer for a refund or exchange.

For further inquiries about the recall, consumers can reach out to Johnsonville’s Consumer Affairs Coordinator Amanda Fritsch at 888-556-2728 or [email protected]
