Jon Gosselin’s Decade-Long Silence with Most Children

Jon Gosselin has revealed that he hasn’t had any communication with most of his children for over ten years. The former star of “Jon & Kate Plus 8” admitted that the distance has turned them into “perfect strangers.” In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he acknowledged the lack of contact, saying, “I haven’t talked to them.”

The reality show aired from 2007 to 2009, coinciding with Jon and Kate’s divorce. Afterward, it was rebranded as “Kate Plus 8,” which focused on Kate’s life as a single parent until its conclusion in 2017.

Jon and Kate are parents to twins Mady and Cara, along with sextuplets Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Aaden, and Collin. The couple’s separation was publicly announced during an episode of the show. Collin and Hannah have been living with Jon since 2018, while Collin has severed ties with his siblings, although Hannah remains in touch with their mother.

Jon expressed a desire to reconnect, saying he’d love to know how their lives are going, emphasizing that it wasn’t about any book-related issues. He lamented, “I mean, we’re perfect strangers now. It’s been a long time with Mady and Cara … about 13 years I’ve been estranged from them.” He admitted he didn’t understand why his older children had chosen not to speak with him for such a long time, adding that he hadn’t seen the other four kids since before the COVID pandemic.

When asked if he had a message for them, Jon said he’s tried to reach out before and intends to keep trying. He shared, “I’ve tried to reach out to you publicly. In the early days, I tried to reach out to you privately. I hope you understand that I still love you. I hope one day you reach out to me.” He also urged them to read Collin’s recent memoir, suggesting it might help them understand the family dynamics better.

In his memoir, “In The Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood,” Collin, now 22, has made serious allegations regarding their mother. He mentioned experiences involving restraint and punishment during filming, saying, “I’d like an apology, simply put, an apology and for her to admit, and just take accountability for what she did.” He feels that Kate’s actions to safeguard her image often came at his expense.

In response to ongoing allegations and comments from fans, Kate has maintained that her children know her true character, emphasizing, “I know who I am and my kids know who I truly am and to me, that’s all that matters.”
