Gruden Critiques UNC After Belichick’s Girlfriend on Sidelines

John Gruden expressed his discontent with North Carolina’s performance after a tough loss to UCF. This critique came on “Wake Up Bar Stool,” where he discussed how Bill Belichick’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, was present on the sidelines during the game.

Gruden, known for his perspective as a former Super Bowl-winning coach, mentioned being taken aback by the situation at Chapel Hill. “I’ve never seen anything like that,” he remarked after Dave Portnoy, the show’s host, brought up the unusual presence of onlookers. Gruden pointed out Mike Lombardi’s role in North Carolina, hinting at past criticism he received from him. Lombardi, it seems, plans to break down the events on TikTok.

Both Lombardi and Gruden have a history together, having previously worked for the Eagles and Raiders. Gruden served as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator in the mid-’90s, while Lombardi came in as a consultant during that same period. Their connection continued when Lombardi was in a managerial position with the Raiders during Gruden’s tenure as head coach in the late 90s to early 2000s.

They’ve exchanged barbs in public settings since their collaborations. A notable instance was on the “Pat McAfee Show” back in March 2021, where Lombardi jokingly preferred dental work over working with Gruden again. He has openly criticized Gruden’s coaching style, calling it impatient and reactive, and mentioned Gruden’s shortcomings in handling human resources effectively.

On the same episode of “Wake Up Bar Stool,” Fox NFL analyst Greg Olsen weighed in on Hudson’s presence at the game. He noted that today’s college landscape introduces various influences that people aren’t accustomed to seeing. “Who are the bystanders? They may have significant roles in the program,” Olsen reflected. He seemed indifferent about the presence of a coach’s family, saying, “I don’t necessarily care, but I guess it depends on one’s perspective.”

Hudson, who has been involved in managing Belichick’s off-field ventures, was seen on the sidelines before UNC’s defeat. The couple recently revealed their relationship, which began after they met in 2021 on a flight. Their connection has drawn media scrutiny, especially after Hudson was linked to a suspension of cheerleaders who were also Bridgewater State members, following a “CBS Morning” interview in which they discussed their relationship.

In June, investigative journalist Pablo Torre cited eleven individuals claiming that Hudson tried to exert control over Belichick’s career for personal gain.
