Jon Hamm, fresh off his stellar performance in Season 5 of Fargo, will join the all-star cast of Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming series The Landman, Paramount revealed on Thursday. Became.
In a statement shared with the Daily Caller, Paramount said Hamm will play the recurring role of Morty Miller on the series. He will be played by Billy Bob Thornton, a “Texas oil industry titan who has a long relationship both publicly and privately” with Tommy Norris. It was just announced that actress Demi Moore will be cast in the role of “Cami, wife of Texas’ most powerful oilman and friend of Tommy Norris,” so I’m wondering if Hamm will play her role in “Landman.” My guess is that he will be playing her husband.
The series is described in a statement as a “modern-day story of the quest for riches in the world of oil rigs” based on the podcast “Boomtown.” Paramount goes on to say that the story is an “Upstairs and Downstairs” tale in which “a bunch of rascals and wildcat billionaires are fueling a boom so big that it’s reshaping the climate, the economy, and geopolitics.” Stated.

Sheridan is a notorious anthropology nerd (not the store, guys, science), so I’m really looking forward to seeing how he translates this story to the small screen. (Related: Country music star collaborates with Taylor Sheridan for powerful video)
If there’s one thing you can count on from Sheridan, it’s to craft some of the most intricately intertwined stories rarely told through direct dialogue. Thankfully, he doesn’t lean into vomiting metaphors like other notable TV and film screenwriters, but he also doesn’t downplay their meaning. I’m ready for this series.
