Jon Rahm and caddie Adam Hayes were getting annoyed with the LIV Golf fans who kept yelling before each shot at JCB Golf and Country Club on Saturday, until Hayes’ frustration finally erupted.
As Rahm was about to take a shot just off the green on the 16th hole, a fan not shown on the broadcast yelled something, and Rahm responded by saying “Hey!” and slapping the side of his leg in frustration.
“The crowd on the 16th green is getting rowdy,” one of the announcers said.
Then a fan (it’s unclear whether it was the same fan) shouted something at Rahm again, which caused him to throw his arms around in frustration and place his hands on his hips.
And that’s when Hayes appeared to yell, “… I’m screaming on your backswing, you stupid idiot.” According to Awful Announcement.
“We all thought that,” another announcer said after Hayes’ comments were picked up by the microphone.
This isn’t the first time Rahm has been visibly frustrated at a LIV Golf event this year. After his tee shot on the sixth hole at a league tournament in Nashville in June landed in the water, Rahm criticized the use of drones during a LIV Golf broadcast.
“It’s unbelievable every tournament. This f**king drone on the backswing every single time,” a microphone picked up Rahm saying angrily.
Rahm, the captain of Legion XIII, hit a chip shot but was unable to lift the ball over the slope of the green, and it began to roll slowly backwards.

He finished the hole with a bogey, putting him at 1 under for the round.
But an eight-under-par round on the opening Friday and then four-under again after 12 holes on Sunday gave Rahm his first win since moving from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf in December.
Rahm finished at 13 under par, one stroke ahead of Joaquin Niemann, and led his team to victory.
He finished tied for third in the Nashville tournament, tied for 10th at LIV Golf Andalusia two weeks later and finished in the top 10 at the British Open, part of the PGA Tour, held last weekend at Royal Troon Golf Course.
But Rahm will need to navigate the 16th hole and perhaps survive another encounter with rowdy fans to secure an inevitable victory on Sunday.
