Jon Rahm slams LIV Golf regret claim; excited for what future holds, per report

Jon Rahm has denied many of the allegations made about him and LIV Golf.

It was a shock when Rahm left the PGA Tour for LIV last December – he was adamantly against the rival league – but the 2023 Masters champion changed his mind and started his own team, Legion XIII.

The latest rumours suggest he “deeply regrets” joining the Saudi Arabia-backed league, but Lahm has ended the row. Report From the New York Post.

“There's no basis for that statement. I don't know where it came from,” Rahm told the New York Post.

“I don't know why they need to say that there are people among us who are unhappy when we aren't. The fact that they can claim to have a source but there's absolutely no truth in it is one of the things that frustrates me a little bit.”

Rahm didn't start the 2024 major championship season well, struggling at the Masters, finishing tied for 45th and missing the cut at the PGA Championship. He also withdrew from the U.S. Open due to a foot injury.

However, he opened the LIV golf season with seven consecutive top 10 finishes. Although he didn't win right away, Rahm eventually overcame the odds and won the LIV UK title.

He is currently ranked No. 1 in the LIV Golf individual rankings and has had a top 10 finish at the British Open.

Rahm said he was happy with his decision.

“I'm really excited about the future of the team and the league,” Rahm said. “I get to be a part of something completely different. I've always enjoyed being part of a team and it's great to now be leading it.”

His Legion XIII squad has four wins and sits second in the team standings. With already impressive results in just their first year together, the future looks bright for Rahm and his team.

LIV Golf's team championship will be held Sept. 20-22 at Maridor Golf Club in Dallas, but Rahm will first be looking to win the individual title with a hefty $18 million bonus on the line, which will be held Sept. 13-15 at LIV Chicago's Bolingbrook Golf Club.
