Jon Rahm Withdraws From US Open After Suffering Foot Infection

The U.S. Open lost a big name.

Professional Golfer Jon RahmThe two-time major champion announced Tuesday afternoon that he will miss the upcoming U.S. Open due to a serious injury, or infection, in his left foot.

“After consulting with many doctors and my team, I have decided it is in the best interest of my long-term health to withdraw from the U.S. Open Championships this week,” Rahm, the 2022 U.S. Open champion, tweeted. (Related article: Rory McIlroy and wife resolve differences, call off divorce)

“To say I’m disappointed is an understatement!” he added. “I wish all my colleagues the best of luck and thank the entire USGA staff, volunteers and Pinehurst community for hosting and putting on what is sure to be a fantastic championship! I hope to be back soon!”

Rahm, currently in his first season with LIV Golf, withdrew from the most recent tournament in Houston due to the injury, saying Tuesday that “the wound between my pinky and little finger became infected.” ESPN.
